About The Credit Question
Borrowing, scored and explained
Last updated August 13, 2026
The Credit Question is an independent publication about scores & files and everything next to it. It exists because the useful version of this subject is usually the one nobody has time to write.
Everything we publish tries to be precise, consumer-side, unimpressed by score-boosting folklore, which mostly means saying what we actually think and showing the reasoning.
What we cover
The site is organised into 6 sections:
- Scores & Files — What is on a credit file, who reads it, and why your score differs by agency.
- Borrowing — Loans, overdrafts, affordability checks and how a lending decision is made.
- Credit Cards — Interest, minimum payments, transfers and the cost of the float.
- Repayment — Getting out of debt: order, rates, consolidation and what actually works.
- Errors & Disputes — Wrong defaults, mistaken identity and how to get a file corrected.
- Protection — Fraud, freezes, guarantors and the consumer rights attached to credit.
Who writes it
Every article carries a named writer with a profile page, and nothing is published anonymously. You can see the full list on our writers page.
How it is funded
Advertising pays for this site. It does not buy coverage, placement or a favourable word, and our editorial policy sets out exactly how that separation works.
